Current ProjectsIn our first hectic three years we have completed a wide variety of projects. Here is a flavour of our recent and current work: - Analysis of the North West Housing Market - NLA have carried out a number of projects on the North West Housing Market for 4NW (formerly the North West Regional Assembly), the North West Housing Forum snf GONW. These include Strategic Housing Markeet Assessments for the North West, the assembly of the housing evidence base for the North West Integrated Regoinal Strategy, and a continuing series of reports on the housing market in the North West region. See www.4nw.org.uk
- Housing Market Assessments - we continue to be involved in these studies, most recently completing an updated set of SHMAs for the North West, and a review of housing market issues in North Staffordshire.
- Regional and sub-regional strategies - we are undertaking a policy discussion report on housing and economic issues in preparation for the new 'Strategy for the West Midlands'. We are producing the housing evidence base for Yorkshire and Humberside to support the preparation of the Integrated Regional Strategy in the region. This draws on our wide experience of housing market analysis and market trends in the North and the Midlands.
- The economy and housing - we have completed studies of the linkages between housing and worklessness in Liverpool and North Staffordshire which include policy recommendations for further action. We recently produced a report on the impact of the recession on housing in the West Midlands. We have recently been commissioned to look at the relationship between housing and economic growth in the Tyne and Wear City Region. Our particular concern in these studies is to make links between projected policy on and policy off economic trajectories and future housing demand.
- Advice on regeneration - we provide advice and support to a number of clients on regneration and housing policies.
- Housing affordability model - we developed a housing affordability model for 4NW (formerly the North West Regional Assembly) covering housing markets across the North West. We have subsequently adapted this for local markets in Central Lancashire for Chorley, Preston, South Ribble and West Lancashire Councils.
- Interim management - drawing on his experience in local government and regeneration, Brendan Nevin is acting as interim manager of the NewHeartlands HMR Pathfinder.
